1. Design for Manufacturing
At Alpha Die Cutting we have over 30 years experience in die cut manufacturing. We work diligently with our customers with the goals of producing a quality gasket and keeping costs to a minimum. We have developed the expertise to understand the main themes that contribute to the cost of manufacturing a custom gasket. We now want to share these experiences with you. Here are the seven main areas where customers could focus their gasket spec on to ensure the lowest possible cost. We have also included a Tip for each element so that you can make the best choice to keep your costs as low as possible.
Alpha Custom Solutions began working with Grasswalkers in 2014. Over the course of the project we have transitioned from providing die cutting of one rubber piece to helping in managing the whole production. We buy the card stock and the printing of the packets, provide the inventory storage of all of the parts, die cut the rubber parts, assembly of the Grasswalkers product and store the finished product for just in time (JIT) delivery. Working closely with the product inventor we've provided consulting from the initial concept phase all the way to full production to help develop a profitable workflow.
One of our customers needed some polyimide foam at 14mm thick made into a simple assembly. We purchased the material in sheets, die cut manufactured one large and two small legs with one hit and then used the PSA from the back side of the material to fix the legs.
